Telehandlers TH412e: Electric, environmentally-friendly, and powerful

The Th412e is the first pure electrically-operated telehandler by Wacker Neuson. Its power ratings correspond to those of a conventional diesel-operated machine. The installed 96-Volt lithium-ion battery is available in two power ratings so that the running and charging times can be optimally coordinated with the work requirements. The TH412e works on-site completely free from exhaust gases and with significantly lower noise emissions. For the end user, this means greater flexibility in application, environmental protection and significant savings with operating costs. As a result, features such as compact dimensions, all wheel steering, low center of gravity, and excellent stability are likewise true of the electrically-driven machine.

Powerful lithium-ion battery

  • It is always possible to select the appropriate battery size depending on the area and purpose of application. There is a total of two maintenance-free lithium-ion batteries to choose from: As standard there is the 18 kWh, optionally available there is the 28 kWh.
  • A 3 kW on-board battery charger is installed as standard. Optionally, a second 3 kW on-board battery charger can be selected, which increases the performance to a total of 6 kW. It is therefore possible to achieve a fast charging time.

Easy charging options

  • The central charging cover is easily accessible on the outside at the rear of the machine. Behind it you will find the socket, the activation switch, and the charge display.
  • The charging cable (Type 2 plug on the machine, familiar from the automotive industry), including the control box, is available with a number of different plugs: 230 V / 10 A Schuko, 230 V / 16 A CEE (blue, 3-pole), 400 V / 16 A CEE (red, three-phase AC current, 5-pole), 400 V / 16 A (Type 2 plug wall box, IEC 62196), and other adapter plugs.
  • The flexible, selectable charging plugs enable fast and coordinated charging of the selected battery size. In combination with the installed on-board charger, both efficient and safe charging processes are guaranteed.

Digital display

  • The main functions always in sight: With the digital display, the operator always has everything in sight while working.
  • On the outside of the display are the standard indications, like the warning light for the parking brake or the control lights for the indicator or the full beam.
  • In the central area of the display for information there are three main views and a variety of useful information, e.g. operating hour meter, charge status of the drive battery, remaining running time / remaining charge time, speed display, average consumption, recuperation level, date, time, or temperature of different components.

Electric parking brake

  • The electric parking brake automatically activates if the machine stands still, the direction of travels is set to neutral or the operator leaves the seat. The parking brake is automatically released if the machine is put into gear using the accelerator. This provides the operator and their working environment with a maximum level of safety and comfort. The machine can therefore be operated more efficiently using the electric parking brake.
  • Naturally, the electric parking brake can likewise be manually activated and deactivated by operating a switch. The operator therefore always has control and can work with the machine in accordance with their requirements.
  • The electric parking brake provides both a comfortable auto-hold and hill-hold function. This prevents the machines from unintentionally rolling away and in doing so increases safety when working.

Compact dimensions in the 2 x 2 m class

  • The width and height of the compact telehandlers is respectively under 2 m. This is why our telehandlers are also ideal for applications in confined areas and therefore are unique in their combination of lift height, width and machine performance.
  • All telehandlers from our compact series have a particularly small internal radius. The maneuverability achieved as a result of this makes the machine very versatile on each and every application site.

  • Selecting the right tires ensures maximum traction as well as minimum wear and a pleasant running smoothness of the machine. These aspects also increase the service life of the tires and at the same time increase economic efficiency.
  • To achieve optimal performance on any subbase the following different treads are available, depending on the model: EM tread, AS tread, SureTrax tread, RP tread, and MPT tread. This already ensures ex works for maximum flexibility in the machine configuration.

Demand-driven performance

Always the Right Running Time

  • Depending on the size of the battery, it is possible to achieve a running time with uninterrupted operation of over 5 hr. The running times of the battery are therefore strongly dependent on the respective application conditions, the task, and the driving style. This may also mean that a significantly longer running time can be achieved. However, the running time may also be undercut in extreme cases.

Consistent operating philosophy

  • There is a consistent operating concept with clearly categorized and ergonomically organized switches and keypads within each Wacker Neuson machine. In terms of the style, all machine can be operated very similarly, if not the same. This has the benefit that an operator is able to quickly familiarize themselves with different Wacker Neuson machine and is able to work productively.
  • The Wacker Neuson operating philosophy provides the operator with a simple understanding of the machine, whereby they are able to orientate themselves well and work safely. This can be seen, for example, in the recurring elements, like the jog dial, joystick, display, general switch positioning, etc.

Pressure release on the telescopic boom

  • The button for the pressure discharge is easy to access outside on the telescopic arm. In this way, different hydraulic attachments can be replaced even faster and more efficiently. This also occurs with a running engine (diesel) or a switched on machine (electric).
  • When the pressure relief is activated, the active hydraulic control circuit is depressurized and hydraulically operated attachments can be changed effortlessly and safely.

Low operating costs

  • The operating costs over the duration of the machine’s service life are reduced significantly for an electrically-driven machine when compared to those of a diesel-driven machine, because less energy and service costs are incurred.

Different operating modes

  • The TH412e is equipped as standard with two different operating modes, which can be changed at the press of a button.
  • POWER mode: Usual drive system function, no reduction in rpm or restrictions.
  • ECO mode: With this mode, acceleration is curbed and the top speed is reduced. Furthermore, the volume flow of the work hydraulics is reduced. This allows for a longer running time of the battery and is ideal for light to medium loading activities, transportation works and driving on streets.

Flexible trailer operation

Front and/or rear electrical connections

  • The machine can be equipped with electrical connections at the front and/or rear. As a result, electrically-operated auxiliary functions of attachments (e.g. a sweeping machine with water-spray facility) can be operated. Additionally, it is possible to switch between the additional function of hydraulic attachments. Operation is therefore comfortable using the joystick.
  • The electric functions (push/lock) can be individually assigned to the joystick controls if desired.
  • Electrical connections at the front and/or rear ensure that a wide range of attachments can be operated with the machine. This in turn increases the range of applications of the machine.

Pressureless return including leakage oil line

  • Certain attachments with their own hydraulic motor require an unpressurized return line. The hydraulic oil flows back into the hydraulic oil tank via the oil cooler and the oil filter in a large dimensioned separate line. The advantage here is that the attachment can feed the return oil cooled and without increased stagnation pressure back into the hydraulic oil tank. This protects components of the machine and the attachment.
  • The leakage oil line returns the leakage oil of the oil motor to the tank with max. 2 bar if required. This minimizes the casing pressure in the hydraulic motor of the attachment.

Ventilation as required

  • The cab has a large, wide-opening door and opening windows. With the two-piece door, the upper window pane can be opened up and affixed on the back. Gap ventilation through the window and/or door is likewise possible. Depending on the model, it is also possible to open the rear windshield and the whole door, which in turn can be affixed to the back.
  • The different ventilation options ensure fresh air in the can, even without the use of air-conditioning, and increase the operator’s comfort when ambient temperatures are warm.

Comfortable and ergonomic operator's seat

  • The driver's seat is ergonomically shaped, well sprung and adjustable. The optional air sprung comfort seat offers even more pleasant conditions. Seat heating is available for cold temperatures. This increases the comfort for the operator. He can thus concentrate on working with the machine for longer periods.
  • Depending on the model, different seats are available to match the size of the machine. The various seat adjustment options allow individual settings for the operator, providing optimum comfort.

Manual throttle

  • The hand throttle enables the manual setting of a constant travel speed. In doing so, the foot pedal need not be operated. The variable setting is both comfortable ad precise via a corresponding potentiometer.
  • The set travel speed can be overridden with the foot pedal. If the pedal is then released, the machine will return to the set speed.
  • The hand throttle ensures comfortable and concentrated work with attachments such as a sweeper, hedge trimmer or mulcher, even over longer periods of time.

Flat-Face Hydraulic Couplings

  • Easy change of attachments: The flat-face hydraulic couplings can be cleaned easily, ensuring less soiling in the entire hydraulic system. When the hydro connections are coupled, hardly any leaking occurs, keeping hands, the machine, the attachment and the ground clean.
  • With the flat-face hydraulic couplings, hydraulically operated attachments can be coupled even under pressure, which saves time. All coupling types are mounted on the same bulkhead and are thus easily accessible.

  • The cabin is very spacious and ergonomically designed for a machine of these compact dimensions: A well thought-out heating design with electrically heated front, side and rear windshield, as well as the optional roof panel heating ensures a comfortable climate, even in the colder months. An optionally available heated seat increases the operator’s wellbeing.
  • In addition to this, the door’s window and rear windshield can be opened for ventilation. The upper door window can be opened completely and can be locked to the rear of the cabin.

Fully automatic central lubrication unit

  • On the fully-automatic central lubrication system, the time it takes to perform the lubrication and the intervals at which to perform it are set. With regularly lubrication top-ups of all lubrication points the application safety of the machine is increased.
  • With the fully automatic central lubrication system, the lubrication of the machine is done automatically and thus very conveniently. This means significant saving of time and increase in the longevity of the machine, thus increasing its value preservation.

Maintenance-friendly hydraulic hosing

  • Wacker Neuson machines generally have short hydraulic hoses installed in them. This means that the hoses are divided at several points. In the event that a hydraulic hose requires replacing, only the affected part needs to be replaced. Therefore, the whole hose connection within the hydraulic circuit does not require exchanging. This accelerates the repair times enormously and is also cost-efficient.

  • A great benefit of an electrically operated machine is that clearly less maintenance arises overall than for a machine with a diesel engine.
  • The engine hood can be opened upward, and the operator's seat and various access panels can be removed in just a few steps. This allows uncomplicated access to the hydraulic control block, pumps, battery and electric motors. This ensures easy and timesaving maintenance of the machine.

Good illumination of the work area

  • Lighting can be adapted to various requirements depending on the model: Halogen lighting, lighting according to Road Traffic Regulations (StVZO) (halogen or LED), LED lighting (normal or performance), rotating beacons and additional headlights on the telescopic arm. This makes customised work with the machine possible, even in the dark.
  • Good illumination of the work area increases work safety and provides the operator with a longer period of time to work with the machine fatigue-free.

VLS (Vertical Lift System)

  • The VLS (Vertical Lift System) is a driver assistance system that makes the work easier for the operator when lifting or lowering loads by extending and retracting the telescopic boom semi-automatically when lifting and lowering, respectively, without the operator having to additionally control the telescopic function. This makes smooth and quick work possible.
  • The almost vertical lifting and lowering movement also makes the telehandlers with VLS very stable since the load does not reach the overload range. Experienced drivers can work faster and more safely with VLS. Less experienced drivers receive valuable support for lifting and loading work.
  • The VLS (Vertical Lift System) can be used in three different modes: Bucket mode (e.g. for load works with bulk materials), stacking mode (e.g. for stacking work with pallets), and manual mode (e.g. for shunting work). This provides maximum flexibility when in use.

Perfect visibility upwards

  • A telehandler's advantages come into play when it comes to stacking the load high. Upward visibility is also crucial in order to securely place the load at a great height. With Wacker Neuson telehandlers, the cabin and windscreen are designed so that the operator always has the load in view, even at maximum lift height. The three windscreen wipers (front, rear and roof) ensure optimal visibility at all times.

  • The cabin provides an excellent overview of the attachment, the immediate working area, and the entire machine surroundings. The deep side window on the right and the high seat position combined with the sloping engine hood ensure optimum visibility. This increases safety in the entire working area of the machine.
  • Thanks to the wide front and roof window, there is always an upward view of the attachment. This is particularly important when working effectively and safely at height with the telehandler.

  • The view to the right is often insufficient with many telehandlers. With Wacker Neuson, this is guaranteed through the large-sized right window, the low positioning of the telescopic arm and the steeply sloping engine hood. The operator always has an optimal view of the area to the right of the machine and of the right mirror. This increases safety in the entire working area of the machine.

Battery-Management-System (BMS)

  • The lithium-ion battery is optimally monitored via the applied electronics system. The Battery Management System (BMS) also enables clearly increased charging current, a short-term provision of performance peaks, and permanent monitoring of the temperature. The battery is also always pre-heated to the optimal operating temperature.
  • The Battery Management System (BMS) therefore increases efficiency and safety of the battery, and excludes the possibility of a deep discharge.

Blue Safety Light

  • The Blue Safety Light is an optical reversing warning system. It is activated automatically when reverse gear is engaged and projects a blue light spot onto the ground at some distance.
  • Despite the lack of engine noise, people in the danger zone can still be aware of the machine and remove themselves from the danger zone.
  • The Blue Safety Light therefore increases the level of safety when reversing an eMachine with little noise.

Powerful electric drive

  • The Th412e’s output corresponds to that of the diesel-driven version. The E-drive therefore has no drawbacks in terms of performance when compared with the conventional diesel drive.
  • An electrically-driven machine has an increased level of productivity when compared with a diesel-operated machine. Overall, the electric drive is more efficient and effective than the diesel drive and provides a more environmentally-friendly alternative.

Low emissions

  • With a fully-electric machine it is possible to work on site completely free of CO₂ emissions. This above all protects people in the immediate working vicinity, as well as the operator themselves.
  • The noise emissions are clearly reduced with an electrically driven machine when compared with a diesel-driven machine. This makes it possible to work in noise-sensitive environments or at night.
